Emma Perry
Before transitioning into UX, my career as a teacher helped me develop strong empathy and infinite patience, honing my ability to simplify complex ideas and empathise deeply. These are qualities that now drive my work in understanding and advocating for users. I made the switch to UX design to pursue a career that offers more balance while still allowing me to engage with people, solving problems and making a positive impact.
I found UX design through my love for problem solving. I am highly motivated in listening to feedback to create intuitive and impactful user experiences. My background in Development Studies at SOAS has given me a global perspective, helping me approach design with a broader understanding of diverse user needs and behaviours.

John Stanley | British Fencing Head of Communications
“Emma and two other General Assembly students worked on a joint three-week project with British Fencing to transform the information architecture of our website. They dived in deep and came up with a brilliant solution informed at all stages by data and research, and aligned with best practice. They listened to our feedback at all stages, and finished off the work with a focused presentation and a beautifully executed high-fidelity clickable prototype. I thought the points where she led the project were particularly strong and she has a great career in UX design ahead of her.”
Jordan Gilbert | UX Designer
“I worked with Emma on an information architecture project for a well-known sports governing body and was massively impressed by her well-roundedness throughout the project. I specifically remember how well she conducted and synthesised research as well as maintaining a strong focus on meeting client and stakeholders needs at every stage of the process. I’d gladly work with her again and highly recommend her.”
Freddie Grzybowski | UX Designer
“I had the pleasure of teaching Emma on the General Assembly UX Immersive Bootcamp and was impressed by her dedication, creativity, and ability to think critically about user needs. She consistently delivered thoughtful, user-centered designs and brought valuable insights to discussions. I’m confident she will excel in any UX role she pursues.”
